# Air Purifiers This section covers air purifiers the way you actually use one: what size you need, which filter type matters, where to place it, and how to keep it working. It is written from public standards and manufacturer documentation, not marketing copy. _Last updated: 2026-09-28_ ## Articles - [How to Choose an Air Purifier for Pet Hair and Odors](https://www.smartairguide.com/air-purifiers/how-to-choose-an-air-purifier-for-pet-hair-and-odors/) — Choose a HEPA air purifier by smoke CADR, filter type and carbon for odors. A practical, source-based guide for homes with pets. ## What you will find here - Choosing an air purifier for pet hair and odors - Sizing a purifier to a room (CADR and air changes) - Where to place a purifier for the best airflow - When a purifier will not solve the problem ## Frequently asked questions **Q: What CADR do I need for a bedroom?** A: As a working rule, aim for a smoke CADR of at least two-thirds of the room's floor area in square feet (8 ft ceiling, about 5 air changes per hour). A 200 ft² bedroom points to at least ~130 CFM; use ~200 CFM for a strong margin. **Q: Does HEPA remove pet odors?** A: No. HEPA captures particles such as dander and hair fragments. Odors are gases and need activated carbon; the amount of carbon matters more than the word 'carbon' on the box. ## Products in this category - [DREO 530S Air Purifier (RGBIC)](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0H8SB7YY1?maas=maas_adg_api_585602613512925350_static_12_201&ref_=aa_maas&tag=maas&aa_campaignid=PBd80bd4ce4ece40f44bcc76fcc0c48425&aa_adgroupid=99abOnP1pC8lf4AnvobrGKTnTfr_aKBQUZzDSUkZjocNFub_bs2frgjcI9NkRYC5C65ukTVHJxDAMQFHWlCkIH&aa_creativeid=8f82wlDYPds5P7ntLZtXI09xBlRY0rvWPPQ0azuMhEvyCLc_c) — Best for: Rooms where you want a visual air-quality cue.
